Since 2014, the way to connect straps to the Apple Watch has been the same. Nor has the design of the watches been changed to any great extent.
The Apple Watch X could become thinner or have much better battery life
But after ten years, Apple believes the time has come, and that it is worth changing the way you connect in connection with the new design expected with Watch X, which is supposedly the name of a completely new generation. It took ten years for the iPhone X to be launched in 2017 after the first model, and now Apple seems to be doing the same with the Watch series: that is, introducing something completely new in every way.
This means that none of the current belts in use can be used with the new generation. According to Apple leaker Kosutami, the reason is that the current connection method takes up too much space. The question is whether Apple chooses to make the design thinner, or uses the option to implement a larger battery for 48 hours of battery life.
This will include the way you connect the straps, which are supposed to be magnetic from next year. Mark Gurman has previously stated just this - we reported on the disclosure 13. August this year:
"About the new watches, Gurman reveals that they will be the thinnest ever from Apple, and the company will have designed a new magnet system to change links more easily. Regarding the upgrade rate, Apple has internally talked about updating every two years, but according to Gurman, the plan is still to upgrade annually. If the watches become significantly thinner, the chance of much better battery life may not be entirely present - only if they also make the dials larger."
