Is that all?

Mark Gurman, Bloomberg's Apple expert and leaker, stated well before the iPhone 15 press conference in September that October was the month we would get new iPad models.

Uncertainty about the iPad

But yesterday he changed his mind and reports that October is not the month after all. This led us to speculate that there will be no new iPads this year at all – after all, November is not exactly a month for press conferences, but for the marketing of new products ahead of December.

And now Mac Otakara believes that this is precisely the case: there will be no new iPads this year, even though Apple has launched new models every year for 13 years in the autumn.

Will it only be Apple Pencil 3?

Instead, the Apple blog believes that the only thing Apple will release is the Apple Pencil 3. It's not just for creatives and designers who use the Apple Pencil 2, but it's a setback for anyone who wants to upgrade iPads. Because yes; it's about internal upgrades and not design changes. It is unlikely to happen before next year, and Apple will probably start with the iPad Pro series.

So what is the improvement with the third generation?

Yes, the tips can be changed magnetically. It sounds like a natural upgrade, but it is a bit special if Apple chooses not to launch new iPads to accompany the new Pencil.

On the other hand, the second generation was launched first for Apple's Pro tablets (it also works with the iPad Air 4 and 5, as well as the iPad mini 6), and they will not be upgraded this year. Maybe it makes sense after all. The Apple Pencil 2 (2018) launched in early November, so there are possibilities.
