Facebook has secretly tested an app in china

The social media is blocked in the country, but found a detour.

The New York Times writes that Facebook has been testing an image sharing app in China since May. Facebook is probably known blocked in the country.

Moments-like app
According to reports, the app, known as Colorful Balloons, is perceived as the Facebook's Moments app launched for a while.

Moments is an app where users can share pictures and the like with friends and family.

Colorful Balloons works completely independent of Facebook and is instead integrated with WeChat, the largest social media in China. The app was launched through the local company Youge Internet Company.

Want to learn more about the country
In a statement to The Verge, Facebook says that the company has spent time learning more about the country and their focus now is to help Chinese companies and developers reach markets outside the country using their advertising platform.
