The analysis company CIRP , which we have quoted a number of times , has figures that point in the direction that Apple potentially has a dangerous trend underway with its most important product.
The iPhone 14 did better
“This is the third full quarter of the new iPhone 15 models, including the 15, the more advanced and expensive Pro and Pro Max, and the iPhone 15 Plus. In the last quarter, the four iPhone 15 models did not sell as well as new models in previous corresponding quarters,” begins CIRP, and goes on to show that the iPhone 14 series did much better in the same period:
The four iPhone 15 models accounted for 67 percent of total iPhone sales in the quarter, compared to 79 percent for the four iPhone 14 models in the same quarter a year ago.
We don't think the "iPhone Slim" will arrive until 2026 at the earliest
As is also the trend among the iPhone's competitors, it is the most expensive models that do best. CIRP reveals that iPhone 14 accounted for 24 percent of sales in June last year, while 15 only accounted for 19 percent last quarter. It is only the iPhone Pro Max series that both ended at 22 percent in both periods.
A "Slim" iPhone is expected and Apple will also slim down the MacBook Pro (as they slimmed down the iPad Pro), but when any of these products will arrive we do not know. It is only the iPhone 18 series that will get a 2 nm chipset, i.e. in 2026. The technology will ensure up to 30 percent better battery efficiency, which a thinner iPhone may be completely dependent on.
