The communications person for Meta, Andy Stone, apologizes for the downtime and states on X that it was due to technical problems. Why so many other services also experienced problems is still not known.

The problems do not come long after the large American telecom operator ATT went down two weeks ago in large parts of the USA. It is not yet known what is the cause of the problems, but there are rumors of everything from various technical problems to cyber attacks. New York's attorney general has announced an investigation.
