Google's Pixel mobiles are doing better in the market than before, but are still very small compared to Apple and Samsung who sell hundreds of millions of mobiles a year.

Beat 2019 record

It's not so strange either: Google has run a cautious strategy, not focusing on premium models (Pixel 8 Pro costs NOK 13,390) until recently, and, not least, they just went on sale in Norway. The debut here at home was last year with the Pixel 7.

 

Now IDC VP Francisco Jeronimo has updated sales figures for us. According to Jeronimo's market analyses, Google has managed to sell 37.9 million Pixel mobiles since 2016. Thus, Google has a very long way to go, but if we believe the Pixel 8 will get seven years of updates, the company is ready to invest more than before and with a long-term perspective.

 

The positive news for the company is that they sold 10 million (2019 is second with 7.2 million sold - the same year they launched the Pixel 4) in the last 12 months, which points in the direction that not only the market expansion has worked, but also that the Pixel 7 series are good mobiles. We agree with that .
