Apple phased out the iPhone 12 in most countries already in September 2021.

Apple's comment on the matter is that they have provided "ANFR" with a number of laboratory results from Apple and from independent third parties which are supposed to prove that they comply with all applicable SAR regulations and global standards. The company disagrees with "ANFR" and that they will continue the talks to prove that they comply with the rules in France.

 

Apple must respond, or all iPhone 12 must be collected

The company offers in its online stores the iPhone 13 launched in 2021 – the same year the 12 models disappeared. Still, there is a second-hand/educational market for the 12th generation, but France wants to see an end to that.

According to the country, which has its own rules for radiation, there is too much-unwanted radiation from the iPhone 12 and has therefore banned sales:

 

"The French radiation watchdog "ANFR" ("Agence Nationale des fréquences") notified Apple of its decision to ban the sale of the iPhone 12 after it conducted tests that showed the smartphone's Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was slightly higher than legally allowed," reports Reuters after the country's minister Jean-Noel Barrot revealed the ban on the French "Le Parisien."

 

Apple did not want to comment on the matter to Reuters, but according to Barrot, a software update is enough to correct the error. He expects Apple to respond within two weeks, otherwise, the country is prepared to "recall all iPhone 12s in circulation."
