The "Taiwan Computer Emergency Response Team" has revealed major security weaknesses in several Asus routers.

All affected routers are sold in Norway


Three popular Asus routers contain flaws that allow hackers to inject malicious code: RT-AC86U (AC2900) RT-AX56U (AX1800) and RT-AX55 (AX1800) are all affected.

 

Fortunately, Asus is already on the ball and has released updates that you can download directly from Asus or via the router app:

  • RT-AC86U

  • RT-AX56U

  • RT-AX55


A number of the flaws have a severity rating of 9.8 out of 10, while several other holes have an 8.8 out of 10.

 

“Since many consumer router holes target the web management console, it is strongly recommended to turn off the remote management feature (WAN Web Access) to prevent access from the Internet,” reports Bleeping Computer.
