Musk company helps iPhone

Apple's satellite partner Globalstar has secured an agreement with Elon Musk's company SpaceX.

Probably to Norway by 2025


This is so that SpaceX's satellites will also be able to help people who activate the emergency functions that debuted with the iPhone 14 last September. The function is still unavailable in Norway, but perhaps this is part of the plan to improve coverage.

 

The payments will be made from this year to 2025, so it may take until then. The price is 64 million dollars but only covers the launch, not operator costs and maintenance.

 

At the same time as the launch plans, the company revealed that it has injected NOK 4.5 billion into a technology fund to help satellite partner Globalstar. Expansion and technical improvements have been announced for Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Puerto Rico, and Texas stations.

 

In fact, Globalstar is totally dominated by Apple, which accounts for 85 percent of the current network capacity. The percentage also applies to future expansion of the network.
