Mac sales down a whopping 10 percent

Apple has presented its third fiscal quarter, and it managed to beat expectations, but only just.

The industry is facing even tougher times
The USA is in recession and people's wallets are not what they once were, while Europe is struggling with an energy crisis and high electricity costs.

This in turn leads to less consumer trade, something Samsung has already announced.

In addition, for quite sometime before the recession, there was a shortage of components and problems with producing enough of them due to constant covid shutdowns at the giant factories in China.

Our results for the June quarter demonstrate our ability to manage our business effectively despite the challenging operating environment. We set a revenue record for the quarter and our base of active units reached a record high in all geographic segments and product categories. During the quarter, we generated nearly $23 billion in operating cash flow, returned over $28 billion to our shareholders, and continued to invest in our long-term growth plans.

Apple can trust the iPhone, this time too
As usual, Apple can always rely on the iPhone: revenue increased slightly compared to last year, and the service part increased by 12 percent. Mac sales fell by as much as 10 percent, but it is possible that some of this can also be explained by the fact that many people shopped for what they needed when far more people had to leave home.

The turnover for the quarter was a whopping 83 billion dollars, which is a record and up two percent compared to last year. The question is whether they will be able to deliver in the fourth quarter as well.

Tim Cook believes that sales of the company's computers are falling due to component shortages and unfavorable exchange rates.

Apple Watch sales also fell by around eight percent and the iPad fell by two percent, which is good for a segment such as tablets in times of recession.
