This makes Microsoft easier to find the Intel updates

Microsoft | Mar 5, 2018 | Master3395

In recent weeks, Intel has completed crisis updates for several of the company's processor series. These will be sent to PC manufacturers who will again offer them via firmware updates to the current PCs.

Will shorten the process
This means that these will not be available through Windows Update, but users must find them manually through the PC manufacturers channels, which may increase delivery time. To shorten this, Microsoft makes the various crisis updates available through the Microsoft Update Catalog online.

You still need to download these manually, but Microsoft hopes that this will both make the process of downloading and installing easier, as well as making updates faster.

Initially, updates for PCs with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update were available last autumn, as well as one Skylake series processor. The remaining will be rolled out gradually. The update can be found here.
