More candidates
Engadget reproduces details as The Information has been obtained from unnamed sources, which states that Facebook should be in the market for a cyber-security company. The company will then be integrated into Facebook's departments elsewhere, including implementing measures for better signaling in case of any attack and better individual protection on the individual user.
The information is supposed to point to the fact that social media is looking for a giant purchase of a reputable company focused on security. There are no names for potential candidates, but the source indicates that Facebook has submitted bids for several of these candidates and that an advertisement may be available before the New Year.
For security or reputation?
Naturally, there are questions about acquisitions that take place in such a way that a company as big as Facebook after a number of scandals sees to upgrade the security network for its users.
It remains, therefore, to see whether any acquisition is classified as a genuine feature of the company in order to safeguard the safety of users, or whether the company does this in a desperate attempt to save its reputation which may be said to have been weakened in the last period. It can also be both.
