Github confirms that the website Wednesday this week was hit by a massive service attack at a total of 1.35 Tbps. The attack consisted of 126.9 million individual packages per second. It is thus the largest, registered DDoS attack ever.
Amazingly, Github was down for just a few minutes. This because the site quickly contacted the company Akamai - who works with DDoS protection - who fought the 6 hot attack.
At the same time, Akamai warns that there are more attacks on hold and that this was just the beginning of what's on its way.
"It is highly likely that this record attack will not be the biggest long time," the company writes in a blog post.
