The news comes directly from developer Piriform who writes in a blog post that the 32-bit editions of CCleaner 5.33.6162 and CCleaner Cloud 1.07.3191 contained injuries distributed to users.
The software was available between August 15 and September 12 before the downloads were stopped. It was Cisco Talos who made Piriform aware that CCleaner contained injuries.

According to the reports, the malicious code sent the PCs back to the attackers. The information contained things like PC names, installed programs, Windows updates, and MAC adapters to network adapters.
In addition, the damage caused the attackers to remotely control affected machines.
CCleaner has been downloaded over two billion times and five million weekly downloads.
