Google has promised that all Chromebooks put up for sale in 2017 and beyond will be supported for Android apps, but the rollout of this has been rather slow.
Can run Android apps
However, Google has now announced support for 16 new Chromebook models, which now have the ability to run Android apps.
However, there is not a system update for these machines that have been released, they have only announced support for this in beta form.
Must switch to beta channel
To switch to the beta channel in ChromeOS, click on your account image, select Settings, click Menu, and then select About Chrome OS, and then click Change channel to select the beta channel.
With others it's not that hard to do, and Android Police promises that the beta channel is reasonably hassle free.
