Several Chromebooks get Android support

16 new machines on the list.

Google has promised that all Chromebooks put up for sale in 2017 and beyond will be supported for Android apps, but the rollout of this has been rather slow.

Can run Android apps
However, Google has now announced support for 16 new Chromebook models, which now have the ability to run Android apps.

However, there is not a system update for these machines that have been released, they have only announced support for this in beta form.

Must switch to beta channel
To switch to the beta channel in ChromeOS, click on your account image, select Settings, click Menu, and then select About Chrome OS, and then click Change channel to select the beta channel.

With others it's not that hard to do, and Android Police promises that the beta channel is reasonably hassle free.

Here are the new Chromebooks who get Android support:

  • Acer Chromebook 11 N7 (C731, C731T)
  • Acer Chromebook 15 (CB3-532)
  • Asus Chromebook C202SA
  • ASUS Chromebook C300SA/C301SA
  • CTL NL61 Chromebook
  • Dell Chromebook 11 (3180)
  • Dell Chromebook 11 Convertible (3189)
  • Dell Chromebook 13 (3380)
  • HP Chromebook 11 G5 EE
  • HP Chromebook 13 G1
  • Lenovo Flex 11 Chromebook
  • Lenovo N23 Yoga Chromebook
  • Lenovo N22 Chromebook
  • Lenovo N23 Chromebook
  • Samsung Chromebook 3
  • Mercer Chromebook NL6D
