Three different scenarios
The apps have been tested under three different scenarios: light consumption, medium consumption, and high consumption.
Easy consumption: 20 messages sent, 20 messages received, 5 images received and two pictures sent.
Medium consumption: 40 messages sent, 40 messages received, 10 images received, five images sent.
High consumption: 100 messages sent, 100 messages received, 50 images received, 20 images sent.
Telegram best, Skype worst
According to SosTariffe's figures, Telegram, WhatsApp, and Hangouts were the best and in that order. The line is just behind Hangouts in the comparison.
Telegram - like the most data-rich - consumes only 0.42-3.75 MB per hour.
The worst outcomes Viber, Messenger and Skype. The latter is much more fond of data than the others and uses between 3.08 and 22.22 MB per hour depending on the usage.
