Finger sensor on the credit card
This sensor is also relevant in the expected increased use of mobile payment, but also on credit cards. Mastercard believes at least and now they have presented a credit card with integrated finger sensor.
It's as thin as a regular bank card and looks pretty much alike, but the difference is the sensor located in one corner. With it, you can scan your finger when paying instead of typing the PIN.
Full rollout throughout the year
According to Mastercard, the card operates with current bank card terminals that take a chip and are currently being tested in South Africa. In the coming months, testing will expand to Asia and Europe while a full rollout is planned during the year.
The company's security chief, Ajay Bhalla, said in connection with the introduction that a fingerprint is "something that can not be taken or replicated", but as The Verge points out, it's not entirely correct. We have previously seen examples of how to steal and forge other fingerprints.
It is not known how the orders of such cards will take place, but customers will probably have to go to a bank.
