Android 15 beta 2 has been released, and now there are many more than the Google Pixel to try.
“The priorities are to improve the camera and media experience, connectivity and deliver new APIs,” is how OnePlus summarizes Android 15 and goes a little deeper:
Android 15 prioritizes improving the camera and media experience, and connectivity and delivers new APIs to develop better applications. The operating system offers a number of features such as “Low Light Boost” and new additional camera controls in the app. This gives users the tools and hardware they need to work on their visions. In addition, updated platforms so that apps can access the latest in communication, including a smoother NFC experience.”
OnePlus 12 and OnePlus Open support Android 15.
Beta 2 opens for third-party mobiles
We've tested the new OS on a number of devices, but it was beta 1 without Gemini built into the core (you should check out Google's demo.) In short: there's not much new on the outside, and we don't expect more in the finished version. But there are certain things, like a new interface for finger login and an overhauled volume interface with an output selector.
There will be all the more in the core that makes use better. This includes that on tablets you can connect two apps that share screen space, and a number of minor interface improvements and AI functions sprinkled over almost every nook and cranny. We will know more later. It is common for Google to change the interface and add features as the test period progresses.
It also includes something called “Private Space” and a smarter widget preview:
“Private Space creates a separate area for Android applications of your choice. Google likens it to a digital safe for apps you don't want others to easily access or see. You can access these programs from the bottom of the app drawer after authentication via fingerprint or a separate password/code.”
