Apple's "pinch to zoom" bug we described last September has probably been fixed.
As time passes, the imbalance remains
We're not sure which version cracked the bug, but it's gone. But there is another remarkable error that Apple, after 12 years, has not yet been able to correct and that they have been aware of for just as long. The problem is that the sound balance automatically shifts one way or the other.
“I'm having some strange issues on my MBP Retina running OS X 10.8.2. The sound balance changes and the right speaker is almost muted. Does anyone know what could be wrong here?,” asked a user in 2013. But the problem seems to be much older than that – this post is from 2003:
“I have had this problem on several MacBooks (since my old Powerbook 15 from 2003 until I discovered the same thing on my MacBook Pro 13″ from late 2011). Apple has confirmed it as a bug that occurs when pressing the volume buttons during heavy CPU usage way back in OS 10.2! The solution was to go back to preferences and put it back where you wanted.”
After all these years there is a solution, but it is found in the free program " Balance Lock " from Tunabelly Software. Whether it is volume changes under heavy CPU load that cause the problem which, according to the same software company, also affects the Apple Silicon Macer, is not known.
