Meta Quest players can rejoice

Valve has rolled out the ability to wirelessly stream PC games from Steam to Meta Quest headsets.

Use Steam Link with Meta Quest

“New: Play VR games on Steam with Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro,” reports Valve explaining “it's a pleasure to announce that Steam Link streaming technology is now available on Meta Quest 2, 3 and Pro. This makes it possible to play VR games wirelessly from the Steam library.” It's the first time this is possible for VR games. Previously, the program was used for mobiles, TVs, and tablets.

Valve says the best is to use WiFi6 or WiFi 6e and that the PC has at least 16GB of RAM and an Nvidia graphics card (RTX 2070 or better.)

Valve points out, however, that you need 5GHz and that you must meet the minimum requirements:

  • Wired connection to PC
  • Video card: NVIDIA (GTX 970 or better)
  • Operating system: Windows 10 or later
  • Headset: Meta Quest 2, 3, or Pro

To get started, do this:

  • Make sure Steam and SteamVR are installed and running on your PC.
  • Note: You may need to restart Steam to confirm that you are running the latest version of Steam and SteamVR.
  • Connect the headset to the same network as the PC.
  • Download the Steam Link app to your headset.
  • The app helps you wirelessly connect your computer to the headset.
