Sam Altman BACK

After a couple of chaotic weeks, the founder of OpenAI, Sam Altman, is back at the company he was CEO of a few days ago. This is reported by OpenAI on X.

Altman emphasizes his and OpenAI's close ties to Microsoft:

What happens to the position at Microsoft?

There must have been a bigger power struggle between the AI company, Altman and Microsoft. The latter communicated not many days ago that Altman would lead his own AI team at them - this was stated by Satya Nadella at the same time as he assured OpenAI that they were still betting on them. He had to: the company has invested 13 billion dollars.

The situation was also such that half of the employees in OpenAI threatened to quit if Altman did not return, in addition to Microsoft keeping the doors open for them to come to them with matching agreements and bonuses. This was precisely the background for the comment “Sataya Nadella” may have performed a stroke of genius.”

This is what they report on X:

“We have reached an agreement in principle that Sam Altman will return to OpenAI as CEO with a new board of directors consisting of Bret Taylor (chairman), Larry Summers and Adam D'Angelo. We are working together to find out the details. Thank you very much for your patience through this.”
