Free, but there's a catch

"Temporary Cloud Backup" is a new and self-explanatory service from Samsung.

Up to 100 GB for 30 days

There are many times when you need space in the cloud for sharing, but not necessarily for the content to be stored forever and ever. This is where Samsung's new free service comes in and saves the day. The content is uploaded to Samsung Cloud with a Samsung account.

Fortunately, it is still a matter of more than a few hours or days: uploaded content is stored for up to 30 days and you can download it whenever you want. Samsung explains that the service notifies the user when the time is about to expire and the data is deleted. Note that the maximum file size is 100 GB.

You must be using a Samsung product

Customers must be using WiFi (and with at least 30 percent battery life) to transfer. There is also another important limitation that is not surprising: the requirement is the use of Galaxy mobiles and tablets running One UI 6. It is also required that the user has installed Samsung Cloud v5.3.0.32 and Smart Switch v3.7.40.4 or later.

Samsung says it will start rolling out "Temporary Cloud Backup" this fall "for all Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets running One UI 6.8 starting with the Galaxy S and Z series smartphones in Korea." In other words: it doesn't work in Norway right now, it will come later.
