Be warned before you make the big mistake

NordVPN has test-launched “Sonar”, a service that warns against phishing emails.

Sonar warns before it may be too late

Sonar is an extension to the browser that actively investigates whether you are being tricked by cybercriminals. Sonar is the first project from the company, which is best known for its VPN, which comes from the "NordLabs" department of the company. Sonar uses AI and large language models to detect whether you are at risk of being exposed to fraud:

AI tools facilitate the automation of a significant proportion of phishing attacks, and the frequency of such attacks is expected to increase in the future, posing a significant cyber security threat. Sonar is based on the Large Language Model (LLM) used by, among others, ChatGPT, and should help Internet users to better identify phishing in an ever-changing environment.

More to come

The company explains that the user is proactively warned if they receive what could be phishing - the technology is also able to point to the part of the email that causes the service to react, and at the same time explain what characterizes fraud attempts. Sonar is already available to Gmail users who also use Google's Chrome browser. “More platforms will be supported later,” reports NordVPN.

Those who wish to try can register on the waiting list.
