The new Apple chips are coming this year and they will break records

The plan for Apple is not just a separate 5G chip, but one that combines 5G, Bluetooth, and WiFi.

 

Now Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple is slowing down the development of the WiFi chip to instead focus on 3 nm chips for its own CPUs.

The most interesting thing about the leak from Kuo is that he expects the 3 nm CPUs to be mass-produced from 2023 to 2025.

 

Kuo believes that the performance and energy improvements are so great compared to the latest A (A16: 4 nm.) and M chips (M1 and M2: 5 nm.) that the company is devoting most of its resources to developing them instead of a new WiFi chip.

 

The A chips in particular have stagnated in improvements compared to other generations, but are still somewhat faster than the best from Qualcomm.

 

It makes sense that Apple is waiting to equip the Mac Pro with the M3 Max ("Extreme" they apparently dropped: it would have become too expensive, even for them.)

 

Apart from M chips, a new design is not expected.
