Password program hacked again

LastPass has been hacked again. Manager Karim Toubba reveals this in a blog post.

The August hack helped them hack the company again

On August 29, the company announced the first hack:

“We have found that an unauthorized party gained access to parts of the LastPass development environment through a single compromised developer account. They took parts of the source code and proprietary LastPass technical information. Our products and services are working as normal.”

Back then, the hackers ran away with the source code, now the program and service whose task is to keep users' passwords secure has been suspended again, and that they are now investigating another break-in.

Got access to a cloud server
The company detected unusual activity on a cloud server provided by a third party.

It is information the hackers ran away with in August 2022 that was used to gain access and "certain elements of our customers' information," the company writes but assures customers that the passwords are encrypted and secure. The reason for this is that the company does not know the keys.

Lastpass says it is working with security companies to find out what has happened and what information the hackers have looked at.
