Could this be the start of something big?

Intel and Samsung collaborate on folding laptops.

Prototype lacks keyboard
Samsung Display CEO JS Choi showed off a prototype during Intel's Innovation event.

The tablet, or what to call the machine, can be changed from a 13″ tablet to a 17″ large screen, and there is no integrated keyboard. Is it meant to be used as a monitor, or as a large tablet with an extra keyboard?

“Announcing the world's first 17-inch sliding screen for PCs. This device will satisfy various needs for a larger screen and portability,” Choi announced during the press conference.

But will it become a consumer reality?
Exactly how this works is uncertain, as it is only a prototype. Neither Intel nor Samsung hinted at when the consumer launch will take place.

Samsung tried something similar with rollable screens a few years back but gave up. We hope the collaboration will be more fruitful this time because this is something customers should vote on with their wallets.
