South Korea's new law requires mobile manufacturers to facilitate third-party payment solutions in their app stores.

The App Store has opened up
Therefore, developers can now use the payment solution they want, and the one with the lowest expenses to make it easier to sell their apps.

 

To comply with this law, developers may use the StoreKit External Purchase Entitlement. This right gives apps distributed on the App Store exclusively in South Korea the opportunity to offer an alternative payment processing option in the app. Developers who want to continue using Apple's in-app purchasing system can do so, and no further action is required.

 

The law in the country was introduced last year and prohibits companies such as Google and Apple from forcing users to use only the companies' solutions.

Apple was obviously (they take up to 30 percent in commission) against the law and believed that this will make it more difficult for customers to manage purchases, that they will be more vulnerable to attacks, and that this is a danger to privacy.

Family sharing is not supported
Apple warns that "Ask to Buy" and family sharing no longer work if you use alternative payment solutions, partly because Apple "can not validate payments that take place outside the app."

It further states that: “Apple will not be able to assist users with refunds, purchase history, subscription management, and other issues that arise when purchasing digital goods and services through an alternative purchase method. You will be responsible for solving such problems. ”

The EU's two major digital bills will probably also facilitate this in Europe.
