Apple loses battery manager to Volkswagen

There have recently been major movements in Apple's work to develop a self-driving, all-electric car.

Has lost the boss for battery development
9To5Mac has picked up on the news that Soonho Ahn, Apple's Battery Development Manager, has left the company in favor of Volkswagen's battery department.

 

This is a special case when Apple's role was reversed in a similar situation in 2018: three years ago it was Apple who intercepted Soonho Ahn in front of his employer's eyes, at that time it was Samsung.

 

The website refers to Ahn's LinkedIn update, where he announces the transition from his managerial role in Apple's battery development department, to the technical manager of Volkswagen's battery department.

 

 

Confirms the suspicion
The news partly confirms the suspicion that Ahn was once brought to Apple to work on the car project and not generic batteries used in mobile phones and computers.

 

Ahn is not alone in having been convinced by Volkswagen: BMW is also said to have lost an employee in a senior role to Volkswagen.
