USB 3.0 inputs on USB hubs can experience problems in macOS 12: they simply do not work.

There are several who report the same issues after the upgrade, so expect an update from Apple soon.

 

There are reports from a number of forums, including Reddit, the Apple Developer Forum, and the Apple Help Forum, all of which say they have problems with USB devices, sometimes including the SD card reader on them.

 

I find that USB C and HDMI work on the hub, but that the USB 3.0 port only provides power and does not handle data transfers.

 

Monitors with incompatible internal hubs are also affected

Not only are such hubs struggling with USB connectivity (on hubs like the Grand-X SG-510 and one from XSPUS), but monitors (like the Philips 346P1CRH) also have USB ports that no longer work. HP's display, the S340c, is also mentioned in addition to Philips' 34 ″ 346P1CRH / 00.

 

It is mainly M1 owners who complain, but the problem is not exclusive to Apple Silicon computers either. The same issues were warned in macOS 12 beta versions, but Apple failed/did not have time to do anything about it before launch.

 

None of the mentioned hubs are sold in Norway, but we expect the problem to be quite widespread. Have you experienced problems?
