Do you have old CPU you do not get Windows 11 updates, warn Microsoft

The Guardian has an interesting case about Windows 11 and ISO installation, ie installation on a formatted partition where you have to install the drivers yourself

Do you have old CPU you do not get Windows 11 updates, warn Microsoft

Microsoft no longer wants to support older hardware

You certainly remember a few days ago when we wrote that Microsoft has no problems with downloading the ISO file and installing on also PCs that have CPUs that are not supported, but it is only now the company says updates.

Including security updates, potentially, will not be delivered to machines with CPUs that are too old.

Microsoft has previously warned the same with Windows 7, ie that when the OS went out on a date, it was over with security updates, then deliver security updates anyway.

How many years back is reasonable that Microsoft supports via Windows Update?

Microsoft works closely with marineware manufacturers, so all parties have the advantage of people trading new hardware (the most likely thing is that Microsoft does not want to spend time and resources on older hardware)

But it can also be that this is Microsoft something must say for Legal reasons and that will be delivered updates.

It is difficult and says what is really going to happen, and only after the launch of the OS I in winter we will get the answer. Anyway, unsupported machines cannot directly upgrade from 10 to 11, you must use the ISO.
