BIOS update increases performance in laptops

About a month after the launch of the RTX 30 series Ampere GPUs, Nvidia announced that OEMs will provide Total Graphics Power (TGP) for their RTX 3000 laptops.

Nvidia has given OEMs the freedom to set their own performance values instead of referring to reference specifications.

Higher clock speeds
OEM (Original equipment manufacturer) refers to a company producing a product and selling it to another company which in turn sells it under its own brand. This is common for computer components.

Based on this, Acer has positive news for gamers using their laptops: Updated firmware that will increase TGP will be rolled out for gaming PCs running on RTX 3000 series chips. This will potentially lead to higher clock speeds and performance. The performance improvement depends on what the cooling system of the model in question can handle.

Depends on the cooling system

Our requirement for gaming hardware is that there should be the best possible balance between CPU and GPU performance. We are pleased to offer a BIOS update that provides improved graphics performance.

The changes apply to variants of the Predator Helios 300, Triton 300, Triton 300 SE and Nitro 5.
