Chrome will soon help you avoid dangerous browser extensions

Google is continuing its efforts to make Chrome more secure and will soon launch two new features in the popular browser.

Dangerous extensions
It is easy to fall for the temptation of downloading various extensions that make life on the internet easier.

There may be price comparison extensions or other features that make it easier for you to achieve what you want. One of the problems with these extensions is that there is little control over who they are from, what is in them and not least what they can do.

Last year, Google launched Enhanced Safe Browsing in Chrome, this feature was intended to alert users to phishing sites, and now they are extending this functionality with alerts when you are about to install an extension from an unknown source.

In order for you not to receive a warning, the extension must come from a developer who follows Google's "Developer Program Policies", and it must have been available for at least a couple of months.

Are you sure?
When you download an extension that is not approved, Chrome will come up with a pop-up that warns and asks you to be careful. You can of course go ahead and choose to install anyway.
