Google Photos will have paid as early as next Tuesday

After six years, Google Photos makes major changes on June 1: Free, unlimited Google Photo storage space expires.

How much storage space do you have?
By default, a Google Account provides a total of 15 GB of free storage. It includes Photos, Gmail, Drive, and all other Google products.

Photos uploaded before June 1 do not count
Photos uploaded before June 1 will not be covered by the storage restrictions. 15 GB is not universal, but Google offers extra buying space. For $ 1.99 / month you get 100 GB of storage, for $ 2.99 you get 200 GB. The next level is 9.99 / month for two TB, 49.99 for ten TB, 99.99 for 20 TB and 149.99 for 30 TB. If you pay for an entire year, you get a 16 percent or more discount.

All prices are in US dollars and we pay 8.37 Norwegian kroner for it at the time of writing.

‘Storage Saver’ compresses the images
Backups on Google Photos can be handled in two ways. The first is original quality in full size without compression. It ensures the best possible quality but eats up storage space.

Alternatively, Storage Saver can scale the images down to 16 MP size and compress the quality. This affects the quality, but it does not spoil the image.

If you have a Google Pixel phone, you get unlimited "Storage Saver" for the entire life of your smartphone.

Delete blurred images and screenshots
Under Google Photos' storage management, you can see what your library contains. Google divides it into three main categories for "review and deletion". There is a section for large images and videos, sections for "blurred images" and screenshots. You can click on any section and, if desired, delete photos from the library.

Google One Storage Management
You can also free up space on your Google Account by cleaning Gmail and Disk. Google One has a page where you can conveniently do it from one place. There you can see contents of the trash that have not been deleted, large e-mail attachments you may not need, large videos, photos, and files cross-stored in Photos and Drive.
