Everyone hates this, now they have a plan

Cloudflare wants captcha dead and buried. If we do not have to enter the distorted letter combinations, we can save 500 years of working time every day.

Each captcha costs us 32 seconds
Cloudflare is a US company that provides network services like web infrastructure and website security, and they want to get rid of captcha.

Although captcha strengthens online security, there is a real cost associated with it, and that cost we can measure in time.

It will be a total of 500 years. Weekday
According to Cloudflare's surveys, it takes an average of 32 seconds to complete a captcha request. There are 4.6 billion internet users in the world. If we assume that each and every one of them faces a captcha challenge every ten days, basic mathematics can tell us that humanity is wasting 500 years every day fixing the curls - all to prove that we are humans and not machines...

Today is the beginning of the end for detours and traffic lights on the internet. We want to get rid of captcha. The idea is simple: a real human being must, in order to prove that he is a human being, be able to touch or look at the device without revealing his identity. This is possible and we start with reliable USB keys that have been around for a while, but to a large extent phones and computers are already equipped with this option by default.

Cryptographic Attestation of Personhood
As a replacement for the captcha, Cloudflare presents "Cryptographic Attestation of Personhood" which takes five seconds to solve using a maximum of three clicks as opposed to the 32 seconds it takes to solve the captcha. Cloudflare will start with reliable security keys - such as the YubiKey series, HyperFIDO keys and Thetis FIDO U2F keys.

Cryptographic attestation that we are not a machine maintains a high level of security when accessing Internet sites. Even more important is that this solution protects the users' privacy since the certification is not uniquely linked to the user device. We want to know that you are a human being, but we are not interested in which human being you are.

Cloudflare switched from reCaptcha to hCaptcha (type: in how many pictures do you see cyclists) last year when Google started charging for reCaptcha.

If you had forgotten it says captcha for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart".
