Claims Samsung's own laptop CPU is on its way

In Korea, it is rumored that Samsung is following in Apple's footsteps and developing its own processors for laptops, the Exynos 2200.

Samsung's flagship

The Exynos family is Samsung's flagship processor for mobile devices.

 

The chip will include a GPU developed in conjunction with the US semiconductor company Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) and will be capable of operating both flagship mobiles and laptops. Exynos 2200 will be launched during the second half of this year.

 

Samsung's own processors have lagged behind competitors Qualcomm and Apple in recent years, and a Radeon injection may be just what Samsung needs. Samsung's collaboration with AMD began in 2019, but only now are the fruits of it sprouting.

 

175 million laptops this year
According to Counterpoint Research, 173 million laptops were sold globally in 2020, the highest volume since 2011.

Counterpoint predicts that sales of laptops will increase to 175 million units this year and 177 million units in 2022.
