During a lengthy interview with The Verge, Phil Spencer reveals that the Xbox team has been thinking about how to solve the pre-order chaos.
What if you have the name of the console before it is built?
One of the things they have talked about is that the customer pays a deposit and further that the person can follow the production process from the first component until the Xbox is packed and ready and with a nailed delivery date.
The possibilities here are many, including the possibility of paying more to get first in the queue and have all the content you want pre-installed on the console before it is delivered.
The tradition is open to pre-orders just under two months before the launch of the product. The stores are then allowed to sell x number of percent of the pre-orders, as determined by Microsoft or Sony. The remaining consoles will be put up for sale on launch day. This was also the case in Norway with the new console generation.
The way we do it now is old-fashioned anyway
"I do not know if today's system is right for the world as it is today. It's a very old way of thinking, that you stand outside a store and wait. I think we should challenge ourselves in this area and we have talked to the shops about it ".
Spencer also airs the idea that an Xbox TV plug will probably be launched next year in order to stream xCloud to the TV. We've heard this before, so expect it to happen.
