"BlueMail" is back on the App Store, but that doesn't stop the developer from withdrawing the lawsuit

Back after eight months.

Back after eight months.

BlueMail is back on the App Store after being removed from Apple's platform eight months ago. BlueMail sued Apple in 2019 when they introduced the "Sign in with Apple" feature for what they believed was a violation of their 2017 Share Email feature that they had patented.

Clever timeline
It was not long after Apple introduced "Sign in with Apple" that they also decided to remove developer Blix's email management app.

The company believes that the development of the case is proof that it helps to get things out to the public in this way.

Last year, the developer of BlueMail wrote an open letter to Apple boss Tim Cook in which the message was for Apple to treat small-scale developers more fairly.

Does not drop the lawsuit
Shortly thereafter, they targeted a larger audience of the general public, describing it as problematic that Apple thought their application was incompatible with macOS Catalina despite the fact that it worked fine according to developers.

That Bluemail is back on the App Store is not a reason for Blix to drop the lawsuit, writes co-founder Ben Volach.

- We are pleased that BlueMail is finally available through the Mac App Store again, but we know this is not the end. Our experience has shown that Apple's process of evaluating new applications for their platform is far ineffective and that they exert too much power over small developers.
