In recent months, Google Maps has gained a bunch of new features of both important and less important character, but ultimately it has resulted in a better experience using the application. What is implemented today is a function that alerts the user if the taxi you are in yesterday of the predetermined route.

This feature, in addition to a greater sense of security, also gives a better idea of whether the driver has deliberately taken a longer route to stretch the time and thus increased the cost of the trip.
Google writes in its post that one can activate the feature by ticking "Stay Safes" and "Get Off-Route Alerts" options. For practical reasons, the distance of the deviation from the route is 500 meters from what Google has suggested as the optimal route - when the driver breaks this limit, you will receive a warning on the phone where you can enter to see where you are compared to where the route really had to go. Here you can also choose to send your location to friends and family so that they know where you are.
The feature is implemented for Indian users but is expected to be launched also elsewhere soon.
