President Trump used a national state of emergency as the basis for signing a law prohibiting the sale and use of telecommunications equipment that poses an unacceptable risk to national security, specifically critical infrastructure and online finances.

Uses loophole
The US President argued that foreign actors are increasingly making use of loopholes in communications technology and facing potential catastrophes if such behaviors do not. All US authorities are expected to suspend all possible measures to comply with the new law.

Purchase ban on Huawei
China is not specifically mentioned in the legislation, but there is little doubt that it is mainly actors such as Huawei and ZTE that are trying to stay at a distance. In the past, laws have been put in place that prevents the use of their equipment and accessories in their work, and repeatedly Huawei has been accused of receiving direct money support from the government in security-related work.

Related to the same issue yesterday, a decision was made by the Trump administration to ban Huawei from buying US technology without obtaining special permission first.
