Microsoft is making an iPhone comeback

On September 29, it became known that Microsoft weeded out the SwiftKey keyboard app for the iPhone.

Microsoft bought SwiftKey in 2016 - removed the app in early autumn

Now the app is actually already back on the App Store. We had not expected that, as Microsoft is already in the Android camp with software and Office.

This is what we wrote when the app was removed:

“Microsoft will continue to support SwiftKey Android as well as the underlying technology that powers the Windows touch keyboard. For those customers who have SwiftKey installed on iOS, the app will continue to function until it is manually uninstalled or a user gets a new device,” Microsoft wrote at the time.

"Exactly why they are dropping support is uncertain, but the app has not been updated for a year and Microsoft's focus is obviously on Android," we wrote.

This is what Microsoft says now
"Based on customer feedback, SwiftKey iOS is back on the Apple App Store," Microsoft writes in a statement to The Verge.

The app was last updated on the iPhone on August 11 this year. It has already been confirmed that Microsoft will update the app regularly on iOS - it appears anyway likely as long as security updates are likely to be needed.
