The great YouTube feature can be tested - maybe October 31st

If you are a YouTube Premium member, you can test new features before others, such as PiP (Picture in Picture).

Picture-in-picture for iOS and iPadOS October 31?

Now, this is possible, and on both iPhone and iPad.

 

At first, it was reported that only the iPhone was supported, but we can confirm that this also works excellently on iPadOS 15 (iPad Pro M1) and iOS 15 (iPhone 12 Pro Max).

 

We activated the new option here (you must be logged in), closed the YouTube app on our iOS 15 iPhone, but did not find that the video played as a mini-player even though we swiped up the first times we tested, but after a few minutes it worked so just give it some time.

 

 

Note this
You can choose between two sizes on the iPhone, but since landscape mode is not possible from the home screen, this makes far more sense on an iPad.

 

Note: the video automatically stops playing if the mini-player is activated and the device is locked.
