Samsung secured the assignment to make the cameras for the Tesla Cybertruck

Future Tesla Cybertruck owners will have camera-powered "rearview mirrors" with electronics from Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The company is said to have entered into an agreement worth almost four billion kroner to supply the USA's largest electric car manufacturer with camera modules.

Mirrorless design
The information comes from South Korean publications. They claim that Samsung's camera modules will be used in Tesla's latest electric vehicle, which was unveiled in November 2019 - and it can only be a Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck prototype on display was not equipped with conventional rear-view mirrors, but with a series of cameras connected to screens on the dashboard. The production model should not be so different from the prototype and the reports are a confirmation that Cybertruck sticks to a mirrorless design.

Samsung – Tesla
That Samsung and Tesla are collaborating on electric car technology is nothing new. Already in 2016, the Korean technology giant delivered large amounts of battery cells to Tesla, and reports indicate that Tesla has secured the delivery of the next generation LED module for intelligent headlights, PixCell LED from Samsung.

The four-wheel-drive (AWD) version of the Tesla Cybertruck was originally planned to be put into production later this year, while the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version was to arrive at the end of 2022. There have been rumors of delays, but it remains to be seen.
