The OxygenOS (OnePlus) and ColorOS (Oppo) codebases must be merged.

What do you think about Oppo taking over OnePlus increasingly?

The news comes shortly after the revelation that Oppo is trading OnePlus, but that OnePlus is supposed to operate independently of Oppo.

 

Now this does not seem to be completely correct, as the two companies will merge the software experience for "increased efficiency and standardization of the software experience across".

 

This is what OnePlus says

 

OxygenOS is still the operating system for global OnePlus users, but now built on a more stable and stronger platform. This will apply to new devices in the future, while for existing devices that are still within the maintenance schedule, will happen via an OTA update along with Android 12.

 

We are not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, it may be that the experience will be much better, but for hard-nosed OnePlus fans who may not have fully believed the message that OnePlus should do its own thing, this can feel like the start in something that is going the wrong place.
