Iranian websites claim to have been seized by US authorities

Several websites affiliated with the Iranian regime claim to have been seized and closed by US authorities.

If you go to the Iranian Press TV, which is the Islamic Republic's English-language news channel, or Lualua TV, which broadcasts from the United Kingdom, all you get is a warning that allegedly originates from the US authorities, that the website has been taken over and closed.

Fight for public opinion
The website of Masirah TV, which is run by Houtier, a Shia Muslim rebel group operating in Yemen, says on the front page:

The almasirah.net domain has been seized by the US Government…

Amerikanske myndigheter stenger Al-Alam TVs nettsted.

The Americans also took over the domain of Palestine Today, a website that promotes the views of Gaza-based terrorist groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

In case, not the first time
In October last year, US authorities intervened against a group of cyber domains allegedly used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to spread political disinformation around the world.

According to the US Department of Justice, they took control of 92 domains that allegedly appeared as independent media channels, but which purposefully spread false information to the public in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia on behalf of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
