Facebook will make sure you do not share articles until you have read them

Facebook tweets that they are testing a popup asking if you are sure you want to share an article you have not opened. The pop-up window will ask users to read the article, but they can also choose to continue sharing it if they wish. Facebook will roll out the test to six percent of Android users worldwide.

May irritate
The popup file is similar to the message Twitter started testing in June 2020. Twitter's implementation of the feature can be annoying for users who have read the article elsewhere and decide to share it when it reappears.

“Informed sharing”
Facebook says that the pop-up window is intended to contribute to more informed sharing of articles and is probably a continuation of the platform's fight against what they define as misinformation. The message warns you that you are missing out on important facts if you have not read the article.

The reactions on Twitter are mostly not positive. Some are ironic as kotty downstairs.
