In an interview with The New York Times, Cook (60) warns that he will probably not be with Apple in ten years.
Tim Cook has been with Apple for 23 years - Apple CEO in ten of them
When Cook mentions this specifically, it is to let the market know well in advance that he does not want to become an old man at Apple.
“More than ten years more? Probably not, but I can tell you that I feel very good at the moment and there is no planned date, but ten years is a long time - probably no more than ten years ".
Cook has no idea what he might want to do after Apple: "it's hard to imagine a life without Apple".
At the same time, he keeps the door open for him to possibly do something at the age of 70, or something younger: "I do not think I know what I want to do until I do not work here anymore".
YEAR…
We are starting to get tired of mentioning AR as it has simply not taken off yet (the lack of glasses with the technology built-in), but the Apple boss used another interview to point out how important the technology is for the company. Cook started talking AR too early, possibly because he thought it would take less time to get Apple Glass on the market? Not impossible.
The boss also refers to self-driving cars as robots, and that they are self-driving, this is another hint that an Apple Car is many years away from launch: not only must the technology be in place to ensure one hundred percent autonomy, but many countries must update the legislation. It is most likely that Apple will start sales in the United States. The laws there have not prevented companies like Tesla from constantly encouraging more self-driving.
When I think of different segments such as health, education, gaming or retail, I already see that AR is taking off in some of these areas on mobile. I think AR will be even better in the future.
We also think AR will be very important in the future, but the fact that a couple of stores and some games use the technology does not mean that the hardware part has moved at the same pace as the software development. However, we predict sudden breakthroughs over the next five years, which is also the time period we will probably see Apple Glass.
