Bloomberg reveals that Microsoft is developing its own ARM chips, exactly what we have been calling for since Apple's M1 chips were launched because they crush Intel and Qualcomm.
We believe the server chips will end up in better consumer products
The company is collaborating with the latter on specially designed Snapdragon 8c chips in the Surface Pro X, but this is the machine that is crushed by older machines, as well as the first generation Apple Silicon.
The fact that it is now "leaking" that Microsoft will seriously take up the fight against Apple, which is dangerous in advance, seems a little too well-timed, if you understand what we mean: it is conceivable that someone at Microsoft leaked this himself.
This opens up a new spring for Windows PCs
In any case, it makes sense that Microsoft is looking at this, not only for the Surface series but also for its Azure data centers that make a lot of money switching to more power-efficient ARM server lusters.
This is exactly what the report mentions: that Microsoft will use ARM design to create its own server chipsets (Amazon does the same) - we think they have no choice but to dump Qualcomm, in the long run, to compete against Apple.
And with that, Intel's way down the stock market continues: they went down 6.3 percentage points when the news broke - which means that they are down as much as 22 percentage points this year alone.
