Samsung has unveiled 8TB SSD: 870 QVO, an internal SSD, while Sabrent has launched an external SSD with as much storage space, making them the first in the world.

8TB without additional power supply - up to 2700Mb / second with Thunderbolt 3
Let's first consider Sabrents Rocket XTRM-Q, as they are the first in the world with this size in an external form factor.

The drive uses Thunderbolt 3 which gives it 2700Mb per second write performance, and up to 900Mb per second with USB and requires no drivers.
The series comes in the sizes 500GB (1650 NOK), 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB (15,500 NOK) as mentioned. Prices are converted from dollars.

Then it was Samsung who also launched an internal SSD, 870 QVO. The speeds are typical for SSDs: Read and write speeds: 560/530 MB / s.

The company states in the press release:

«870 QVO offers sequential readings up to 560 MB / s and write speeds up to 530 MB / s. TurboWrite technology enables the device to maintain high performance through a large variable SLC buffer.

Compared to its predecessor 860 QVO, the 870 QVO also delivers a 13% improvement in random read speed. This makes it especially suitable for the daily use of PC, such as multitasking, gaming, and web surfing. The new release of Data Migration and Magician 6 software offers a number of enhanced features that allow users to more easily upgrade, manage, and optimize the SSD. ”

The 1TB model was launched today, while the others are coming soon.
870 QVO comes in sizes:

  • 1 TB - 1499 kroner
  • 2 TB - 2999 kroner
  • 4 TB - 5899 kroner
  • 8 TB - 10 599 kroner
