Samsung's support confirms that they are investigating the problem of their Blu ray players becoming unusable overnight.

The problems started on Friday
This is not a model either, but a number of them, including but not limited to BD-JM57C, BD-J5900, HT-J5500W, BD-JM67C and BD-57C. They are probably hit, all together, as we are constantly finding owners with different model numbers who are experiencing major problems with a simple Google search.

At the moment it is uncertain what is wrong, whether there is a firmware update that did not work properly or if a certificate has expired. It's the latter we first thought could be the scapegoat, but nothing is official yet.

Big mistakes have made the products useless
Other owners report that strange sounds are coming from the player as it is constantly trying to read the disk, even if there is no disk in the drive.

Cases have also been reported in which the device turns off seconds after it is turned on and the player does not respond using the remote control.

Samsung has not yet commented on the matter. We are following developments.
