Yesterday it became known that the EU had asked Netflix to lower video quality in an attempt to prevent the network from collapsing.
Later, the confirmation came from Netflix - all movies and TV shows will be streamed in the foreseeable future.
Turns on the standard resolution for all videos
YouTube is also following in Netflix's footsteps. In all EU countries, as well as the UK, all YouTube videos will be streamed in "standard" quality, Reuters reports.
- We are now committing to temporarily turning on the standard resolution as standard for all EU traffic, YouTube confirms in a statement.
European Commissioner Thierry Breton welcomes the change.
- Google has taken the initiative to preserve the Internet's functionality during the COVID-19 crisis. It is an initiative I warmly welcome, says Breton.
